评论 is the Chinese comment — the word that labels every comment section on every platform. On Weibo, the 评论区 under a hot-search topic can be a cultural event in itself. On Bilibili, comments are layered with the video’s bullet comments (弹幕). On Xiaohongshu, comments drive purchasing decisions. On Taobao, 评论 means product reviews with photos.

Chinese comment culture has its own celebrity ecosystem:

  • 神评论 (shén pínglùn) — a god-tier comment. When someone writes something so funny, insightful, or perfectly phrased that it becomes more famous than the original post. Screenshots of 神评论 routinely go viral.
  • 键盘侠 (jiànpán xiá) — keyboard warrior. Someone who talks tough and criticizes everyone in the comments but would never say any of it in person. A universal internet archetype.
  • 水军 (shuǐ jūn) — water army. Paid commenters hired to flood comment sections with positive reviews, attack competitors, or shape public opinion. The existence of 水军 is widely acknowledged and discussed.
  • 控评 (kòng píng) — comment control. The practice of managing a comment section — deleting negative comments, flooding with positive ones, or steering the narrative. Used by celebrities’ teams and brands.

The phrase 评论区见 (see you in the comment section) is a common sign-off from creators inviting discussion. The Chinese comment section is not an afterthought — it is often the main event.

HOW PEOPLE ACTUALLY SAY IT

评论区比视频本身还精彩。

Pínglùn qū bǐ shìpín běnshēn hái jīngcǎi.

The comment section is even better than the video itself.
