What does 置顶 mean?

置顶 is how Chinese users fight information overload. 置 (place/position) + 顶 (top) = put it at the top and keep it there. In a WeChat world where you might have dozens of active chats, hundreds of contacts, and constant message notifications, 置顶 is the survival mechanism.

The primary uses:

• WeChat chats: Pin your spouse, your boss, your work group, and any critical conversations. They stay at the top regardless of who messaged last. Without 置顶, important chats get buried by group chat spam within hours.
• Social media profiles: On Weibo, the 置顶微博 (pinned post) is the first thing visitors see. Creators use it for introductions, important announcements, or their best content.
